AAH (Artists at Home) is an annual open studio scheme held over 3 days in mid-June. Visitors are welcome to meet the artists, discuss their creative processes, purchase work at studio prices, or just browse.
The origins of the scheme date back over 30 years making it one of the first of its kind. In 1973, the well-known artist Mary Fedden OBE RA, her late husband Julian Trevelyan RA, and a few other Chiswick-based artists had the idea of opening their studios to the public.
Over the years AAH has expanded and now covers an area of three square miles taking in defined parts of Hammersmith, Shepherds Bush and Chiswick, London. It has become a tradition over the third weekend in June and it is now a highlight in the cultural calendar of West London.
There are currently over 70 members working in a variety of disciplines including painting, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, textiles, jewellery and photography. All the work shown has been produced by the artists themselves and the vast majority of it is for sale; work can also be commissioned.
AAH is run on a voluntary basis by the artists themselves. We are proud of this independent status and believe it gives the event a special quality.
AAH receives no statutory support and we are grateful for support from local businesses, especially principal sponsors Edward d’Arc.
